Dr. Jacob Kravits

Software Engineering Lead, Integrations

About

Jacob oversees the development of plugins, which are modular software components built on the SAInt API that enable common workflows such as data translation and analytical processing. This work expands SAInt’s capabilities, ensuring planners have flexible, customizable tools to meet the challenges of integrated energy system planning. Jacob holds a BS from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder, where his research focused on balancing the often-competing objectives of water and energy systems.

Why encoord?

People are planning the future of an increasingly complex and integrated electricity grid. I believe modular, customizable, and performance-driven software is critical to support the planning efforts of complex systems; plugin-driven architecture makes it all possible and will remain central to the SAInt ecosystem.

This belief stems from my own journey as a systems thinker. Early in my career, I focused on riverine systems and the impacts of flooding, including water quality and sediment transport. During my PhD, I explored the connections between water and energy systems. The throughline has always been turning data into insight through software development, data science, optimization, AI, optimization, and beyond!!

Now, I’m bringing that systems mindset directly into the SAInt ecosystem by staying hands-on as a development lead while collaborating across product, development, and marketing to grow our plugin ecosystem.

Most of all, I’m grateful to work with such gifted and passionate colleagues. I'm excited to continue collaborating with SAInt builders and storytellers as we empower planners shaping the future of the grid
